Queensland's One Nation leader has said he knew their new candidate was a member of the Hells Angels motorcycle gang, which has been outlawed in the state.

Scott Bannan, who has also won three world Muay Thai titles fights, will contest the seat of Logan south of Brisbane.

Party leader Steve Dickson said he was not concerned the party was being infiltrated by former bikie members.

He said Mr Bannan disclosed his links to the motorcycle club before they selected him.

"He's one of those top blokes and he came clean straight away," he said.

"This is over 10 years ago.

"Scott Bannan a motorbike enthusiast ... he's a family man.

"He's never been charged with anything.

"The guy's as straight as the days come."

Mr Dickson said not only did Mr Bannan own a business in the area, he did community fundraising, and his high-profile sporting career would help the campaign.

Mr Dickson said he believed the Labor candidate was terrified Mr Bannan was standing against him.

"That's why I am talking to you because they are farming this story out like you would not believe," he said.

"I have so much confidence in this man. I hope one day he could be a future Premier of Queensland."
